Dr. Susan Summerton
Dr. Susan Summerton earned her undergraduate degree from Florida State University. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University, School of Optometry, and completed an externship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
She has practiced in St. Thomas Virgin Islands, Naples, Florida and currently sees patients in Pace, Florida. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and American College of Nutrition. Dr. Summerton is a Certified Nutrition Specialist, and is active in her community with vision and nutrition health. She was a writer for Spotlight magazine, publishing monthly articles on nutrition.
Dr. Summerton is also an adjunct professor at Hodges University. She obtained her Diplomate with the American Clinical Board of Nutrition, and serves as ACBN liason for all Optometrists. She serves on the board on directors for the Ocular Nutrition Society, and has achieved her fellowship with the Ocular Nutrition Society. She has a passion for integrative eye care, and educating patients and Doctors on nutrition, artificial blue light and preventative eye care. She is a certified lid hygienist for microblepharoexfoliation procedure for managing blepharitis. Her focus is general vision care, contact lens evaluations and glaucoma management, diabetic examinations, dry eye and macula degeneration prevention.
