As a new addition to the Gulf Coast Vision Center's professional patient care team, Dr. Amanda Byers is committed to the eye health of the surrounding community. She is a native of Kentucky and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University. She earned her Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University's College of Optometry, graduating with Honors.
Prior to entering NSU, Dr. Byers was a technician and later the manager of an Optometric practice in Bowling Green, KY. She continued to develop her patient care skills at an Optometric practice in Fort Lauderdale, FL while attending professional school.
Throughout her education at NSU, Dr. Byers participated in vision screenings for the early detection of refractive error, binocular conditions, and ocular health issues in children at local schools. She completed internship training at NSU in contact lenses, pediatrics and binocular vision, and geriatrics and low vision. Dr. Byers advanced her training in ocular disease with externships at renowned ophthalmological and surgical clinics in South Florida and at the NSU Glaucoma Clinic. She was honored with Southern Council of Optometry Award for Clinical Excellence for her patient care.
The humanitarian efforts of Dr. Byers are seen through her contributions to organizations such as VisionQuest, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing eye examinations and glasses for children in need. She is also an enthusiastic provider of complimentary eye examinations to any infant younger than 12 months old through the American Optometric Association's InfantSEE program.
Dr. Byers provides eye examinations for corrective eyewear and is certified in Orthokeratology corneal refractive/reshaping therapy. She also provides treatment and management for eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, hypertension, and macular degeneration. As a patient, you can be assured that Dr. Byers will demonstrate thoughtfulness and consideration in caring for all your visual needs. |
