Dr. Matthew Owens enjoys living in the Pensacola area with his wife Katie and daughter Isabelle. He earned his Doctoral degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Additionally, Dr. Owens holds a Bachelors of Science degree with Honors from the University of Florida and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of North Florida. Dr. Owens is a member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, and West Florida Optometric Association.
During his optometric training Dr. Owens completed externships at the Memphis Veterans Administration Medical Center, Southern College of Optometry Eye Center Clinic, and the Eclectic Eye. While in school he was the recipient of the Mayo Clinic Foundation Scholarship award and Cheryl D. Johnson Memorial Endowed Scholarship award. He is involved in several community programs such as the Lions Club Vision program, which provides eye exam for adults in need of care, Jeppesen Vision Quest for school age children, and the Hope and Health clinic to those in need.
Dr. Owens provides vision care for the entire family, with treatment and management of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, and macular degeneration. He prescribes contact lenses, glasses, and low vision devices to serve the visual needs of his patients.
