Dr. Jeanine Spoors
Dr. Jeanine Spoors, originally from Valdosta, Georgia, began her academic journey at Georgia Southern University, where she pursued a degree in mathematics. During her time there, she met her husband and discovered her passion for optics. This interest led her to earn an Associate Degree in Opticianry and become a Licensed Dispensing Optician in Georgia, a role she held for eight years.
After a period dedicated to raising her children and supporting her husband's military career, Dr. Spoors returned to academia to further her expertise in eye care. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2022. Following her graduation, she completed a residency in primary care and ocular disease at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, where she gained extensive experience in diagnosing and managing conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, and diabetic retinopathy. Drawing on her personal experience as a wearer of scleral lenses, Dr. Spoors pursued additional training in specialty and scleral contact lens fittings to enhance her practice.
Dr. Spoors is dedicated to serving her community and beyond. She has participated in numerous mission trips abroad and continues to volunteer with Remote Area Medical events, which provide free eye care services to those in need.
Following her husband's retirement from the U.S. Army, Dr. Spoors and her family relocated to the Pensacola area to enjoy the Gulf Coast's vibrant community and natural beauty. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, visiting the beach, and engaging in local community activities.
