Celebrating a Legacy: Transition to Gulf Coast Vision Center on Town Street
After nearly seven decades of dedicated service, the optometry practice located at 2105 Town Street is undergoing a transition. As of October 2024, we are proud to announce that the legacy of this esteemed practice will continue under the new ownership of Gulf Coast Vision Center, ensuring ongoing eye care for the community.
This historic location has been a cornerstone of optometric care since July 1958, thanks to the remarkable contributions of Dr. James H. Finch and Dr. F. Donald Colley.
A Tribute to Dr. James H. Finch
Dr. James H. Finch, O.D., P.A., a native of Marianna, FL, and a resident of Pensacola since 1950, served his community with distinction. A World War II combat veteran awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Dr. Finch was deeply involved in local organizations such as the First United Methodist Church of Pensacola and the West Pensacola Lions Club. He graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry in 1950 and began his practice shortly thereafter.
Dr. Finch's daughter, Dr. M. Elise Finch, joined him in 1978, continuing the family legacy until their retirement in 1989 when Dr. Finch sold the practice to Dr. Colley.
DR. F. DONALD COLLEY
Continuing the Tradition with Dr. F. Donald Colley
Dr. F. Donald Colley, O.D., P.A., took over the practice in 1989 after a successful tenure starting his own practice in 1967. A proud member of the West Florida Optometric Association for over 50 years, Dr. Colley has devoted his life to serving the community. He holds a degree from Florida State University and graduated with honors from the Southern College of Optometry after serving in the U.S. Army.
Dr. Colley has been an integral part of the local community, known for his volunteer work treating inmates at the Federal Prison camp. Now, as he steps into retirement, Dr. Colley looks forward to spending quality time with family and enjoying well-deserved leisure.
Looking Ahead
The transition to Gulf Coast Vision Center signifies a commitment to maintaining the high standard of care established by Dr. Finch and Dr. Colley. We are dedicated to continuing this legacy and ensuring that the community continues to receive exceptional eye care.
"We are excited to honor the incredible history of this practice while looking forward to providing quality eye care solutions for our community," said Dr. Reynolds, owner, Gulf Coast Vision Center.
The community is invited to join us in celebrating this transition and honoring the contributions of Dr. Finch and Dr. Colley to Pensacola.
